Family Stories - La Vie Est Belle

Everyone's got stories to tell...

I have two stories to tell of McKay.  Sometimes he gets a hard rap in our family because he is crazy, wild and rampuncious.  He likes to destroy things and love to hit, punch and "hulk smash."  But then there is this soft hearted center that comes out of no where and melts you to the very core.  For example, in church McKay has about 6-8 kids that are there in his class.  There is one little boy that doesn't really fit in or doesn't seem to have a lot of friends. No one else was sitting by him.  Well McKay watches this boy for a while and then finally asks the teacher, "Can I go and sit by him?"  He is so genuine and kind to others.  He wants everyone around him to be happy.

Second story.  One night kennedy was have a hysterical break down.  I'm talking, kicking, screaming, pulling hair, on the floor wailing.  It came down to the fact that she couldn't have a stuffed animal dog.  Well, let me correct myself.  She could have the dog if she were to get up off the floor and come join the rest of the family for bedtime stories.  Needless to say, she refused to do this.  The tantrum continued for several minutes.  As we read stories McKay because increasingly more concerned for his sister.  "Dad, can I give Kennedy her dog?"  I replied, "No she can get it herself if she wants to."  A minute later he gets up grabs the dog and runs and gives it to Kennedy, even though I told him not to.  He was so concerned for Kennedy and knew that he could do something to help her that disobeying dad was worth it to him.

Just FYI, I didn't punish him for not listening to me...

So that last story made Kennedy sound pretty bad.  But really Kennedy is a sweetheart.  Every day when I come home she runs to me and wants to give me "a big squeeze."  She is also very in to coloring these days.  Literally has thousands of colored pages scattered every where across the house.  One of here favorite things to do is to color a picture for whomever she thinks needs one.  It is her way of expressing thanks, or gratitude or showing her friendship.

Kennedy loves to talk.  She will talk to you non stop if you let her.  She is so curious about the world and everything that is going on around her.  She wants to know why and how and when.  She wakes up in the morning happy.  She goes to bed and night exhausted and tired from spending every bit of her energy.  It is just the way she lives, every moment to their fullest.

OH What stories can I tell of Hayden.  He hasn't gotten into any trouble yet.  He just loves to sit up and smile and play.  He is starting to be able to reach out his hands for toys that are in front of him.  He doesn't like to lay on his stomach.  He very rarely is limp.  That may be weird to say, but if you were to every pick him up he is stiff as a board.  His legs and stretched out and his whole body is engaged.  We haven't decided what kind of kid he is gonna be.  But it is fun to for him to be a baby.  Wish he would stay that way forever...
