What an amazing locaiton this is! It has a view with a great pagoda and the city in the distance. So many people gathered here to watch the sunset. I was one among them. It was really a spectacular scene with all of the fall colors below. As the sun got closer to the horizon there was this really warm glow about everything. It just set off the colors perfectly.

I have wanted to go to this location from the first day I arrived in Japan. I have thought about what the image was going to look like in my mind. I have planned it out for almost two years now. It took my one sunrise and one sunset to finally get the photo I had imagined in my mind. I'm happy with the image now. I had two goals in visiting Mt. Fuji. One to capture it on camera in an unforgettable image and secondly to scale to its summit. Both things were accomplished.

This place is perhaps one of the biggest, if not the biggest temples and shrines I have ever been to. Kiyomezu-dera has something for everyone. The grounds are massive and beautiful. It has great views and amazing architecture. We actually came here one day and then came back for a sunset adventure.
